We at the Forty Fort United Methodist Church, through the work of our United Methodist Women and the Amicitia Class along with the church at large, support dozens of missions and ministries around the community and around the world.  Following is a list of some of them that we currently support, though we are open and on the lookout for others who may need assistance.  We invite you to join us, not only for worship, but in support of these most worthy social services.

  • Camp Orchard Hill Conference and Retreat Center – providing scholarships for summer youth camps and for their program to help homeless men in the Dallas area
  • Campus Ministries – reaching out to students of Misericordia University in Dallas in support of their Chaplaincy program and to provide personal items for school
  • Children’s Fund International – sponsoring 2 missionary children in South America
  • Dress for Success – provides gently used clothing for disadvantaged women in the Kingston area needing nice clothes for job interviews
  • Friends of Wesley Village – provide funds to make sure all residents are remembered with a gift at the holidays and throughout the year on special occasions.
  • Gerrity Food Cards – provide food for local residents who stop by needing a helping hand
  • Habitat for Humanity – builds homes for those struggling with poverty but able-bodied and employed
  • Hannah’s Hope – a Women’s Shelter for pregnant women who need some time and space in a protected environment in the West Pittston area
  • McCauley House – provides safe haven for victims of domestic violence in the W/B area
  • Meals on Wheels – provides lunch and supper for the elderly at home throughout the area
  • Nursing Homes – provide goodie bags and gifts to the elderly in numerous area facilities at holiday times.
  • Ollies Meals for Kids – provides afterschool programs for children and meals 3 times per week in the Kingston area
  • Pastor’s Discretionary Fund – for the pastor to help those who drop by for whatever reason he/she deems necessary.
  • Ruth’s Place – Women’s Shelter in W/B
  • Salvation Army – provides a Rehab Center/Shelter for those with addictions and a Distribution Center for goods and wares to the general public
  • Shoemaker Hub – local center for collecting and distributing goods to Mission Central – the United Methodist version of the Red Cross, as we seek to respond to local, national and world wide disasters along with community programs for the disadvantaged.  See their web-site on our link below.
  • Special Spaces – an organization that remodels bedrooms for ill children in the Scranton-W/B area
  • St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen – provides financial support for feeding the homeless in Wilkes-Barre area
  • Turkey Hill Gas Cards – provides a few gallons of gas to help folks get on down the road to a doctor’s visit or hospital call or just to get home as they pass through the area.
  • Volunteers of America – a national organization helping local concerns.  “We always step forward to help the most vulnerable.  For 117 years, we have taken on the most difficult tasks to help the most under-served.”
  • West Side Food Bank – Located at Church of Christ Uniting in Kingston, we provide financial and volunteer support for the distribution of groceries to the larger community.
  • Henderson Settlement – Located in Frakes, KY, we fill shoe boxes with personal items that they don’t have that we take for granted, like toletries, work gloves, nail kits, soap, wash cloth, socks comb and brush…
